Cow Herd

Lazy S Ranch Simmental, Angus and SimAngus Breeding Females

50 years of perseverance has led to an outstanding hard working herd.

We're proud of our Lazy S cow herd; they have kept us going through the good times and the more challenging times.  They are the nucleus of our whole cattle ranching operation.

We do not sell our top end replacements, we put them back into our herd, this allows us to cull harder on the cowherd and only keep the very best mother cows that have a good disposition and are deep bodied, strong topped, with good udders and feet that bring in a good quality calf each fall.   We also annually ship our open cows; we don’t rebreed them for a later calving season.   We do not tolerate bad feet, bad udders, or bad attitudes, we haven't the time or patience for this, and neither do our customers.

Bred heifers are brought home from pasture in the fall and go out to graze on re-growth hay fields near the main Ranch.

Heifer calves are weaned in the fall and graze on re-growth hay fields.

Dams of sale bull’s swath graze and flesh up while doing so.   Easy keeping cows produce easy keeping bulls!

Our replacement heifers are all top end look-a-likes that have undergone a stringent culling process prior to breeding.  Consistent quality!
